Bicycle Research Team

The Bicycle Research Team (BRT) started as a Creative Inquiry project at Clemson University. The goal of the team is to determine why people ride bicycles in the Clemson area and ultimately make Clemson, both as a University and a town, a more bicycle friendly community. The BRT has traditionally been focused on bicycle tourism, but I joned as a Health Science student to integrate bicycle safety and cycling as a health behavior into the study.

Health Internship Preparation Seminar

The Internship Preparation Seminar is required of Health Science majors prior to getting an internship. Some of the projects completed during this class can be accessed by clicking the links.

HLTH 4190

HLTH 4980

Health 4980 Population Health was a class that presented me with a variety of unique oppurtunities. This class tied together material from all the other health courses I had taken at Clemson and taught me the relations between the health care industry and the general public. The class had many guest speakers and most importantly a position as one of Clemson's very first health science cooperative students. I will start this position in Summer 2016 with Greenville Health System as an Accountable Communities Co-op. This position will train me as a community health worker and give me experience working in the field to improve health in high risk patients.

HLTH 4800

HLTH 4800 is a community health promotion class. This class is centered around a few main projects that teach the students how to improve health in the community. The community health assessment asks the student to survey their community for strengths and weaknesses in social and environmental health. The advocacy assignment requires the students to ask for a change within their community to improve health or safety. Both of these projects, as well as an advocacy reflection, can be viewed by clicking the links.
