IN MY SPARE TIME

I am an avid cyclist. I primarily mountain bike, but I also road bike, primarily to commute. I have ridden bikes my entire life, and started mountain biking in Clemson's Issaqueena Experimental Forest when I was 10 years old. I am a safety officer on the Clemson University Cycling Team, and I have carried my love for the sport into academics through programs such as the University Bicycle Research Team as well as various smaller class projects. Though I have raced with bicycles before, I am currently training for my first offroad triathlon, the Clemson Xterra race.

One of my biggest hobbies in college has been Overlanding. When using a vehicle, overlanding is similar to offroading, but with less emphasis on conquering obstacles and a greater emphasis on endurance and self reliant back country exploration. This hobby also ties in with my involvement in the Clemson University Ofrroad Club. My travel has been done in my FJ Cruiser, which I have modifed to be able live out of on multiple day excursions. These modification and travels have given me a much better understanding of planning and executing goals and has also given me a nice base from which to do my other hobbies; such as hiking, cycling, trail running, camping, and motocross.
